DESIGN ASSOCIATE

Noel’s diligent architectural work at INTERSTICE includes schematic and design development work on recent commercial and residential projects.  Noel’s successful completion of a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is the groundwork from which he has continued to follow his interest in design-thinking as a form of empathy, with a typological emphasis on adaptive reuse as a critical sustainability strategy, particularly relevant in urban places. Noel brings to his work at IA internship experience working on K-12 educational facilities.  Noel considers himself an avid student of beauty and expressiveness in buildings, carefully examining the materiality, color and textures that ring true to understanding what makes buildings unique in time and place, as well as the simple additions and subtractions that bring new life to older structures.

Noel enjoys spending free time lifting weights, hiking, and playing his beloved sport of soccer. Noel practices mindful cooking to relax and stay in the present – he enjoys the planning, precision and of course the delicious reward of following a great recipe to its conclusion. Sketching and painting contribute both to his professional work and new insights into the urban environments of San Francisco.
