Andrew Dunbar presents at SPUR Panel: “The Useful Theory Project: A design salon”

Andrew was on a panel for SPUR, along with Tim Culvahouse, Anne Fougeron, Walter Hood and Nicholas de Monchaux, to discuss Useful Theory and the impact the process has had on projects at the firm.

The Useful Theory Project, initiated by Culvahouse, is a look at subjects in literature and how they directly influence an architectural design approach or concept. For the presentation, Andrew spoke about two major INTERSTICE projects: Mission House/Greenskin and the Hu Residence.

GREENSKIN IN FALL ISSUES OF ARC-CA

GREENskin has been published in the 10.3 issue of arcCA for recieving a Small Project Merit Award by the AIA California Chapter in their 2010 Design Awards.  The project can be seen on page 40 of the issue.

BRS:1 WINS AIACC URBAN DESIGN MERIT AWARD

Bay Remediation Site:1 has been awarded a Merit Award in Urban Design from the AIA California Chapter.  The project was one of three Merit Award Recipients, and the award comes on the heels of an AIASF Citation Award.

We’re pleased to share that IA has received a Urban Design Merit Award from the AIA California Chapter for its project “Bay Remediation Site: 1” sited in Horseshoe Cove.  This honor comes on the heels of the project’s recent AIASF award for Unbuilt Design earlier this year.  The project will be published in ArcCA and AIArchitect later this fall, so keep an eye out!

Interstice Architects has won a Citation Award from the AIASF in its 2012 Design Awards.  IA’s winning entry “Bay Remediation Site:1” was the only landscape architecture entry to win in the Unbuilt Architectural Design category.

Interstice Architects has won 2 first place prizes in the 2011 Green Dot Awards.  IA placed first in the product design category for its GREENskin Facade System, and first place in the concept design category for the entry Bay Remediation Site: 1.

IA’s GREENskin Facade has been awarded a Small Project Merit Award by the AIACC for this year’s AIACC Design Awards.  The project was one of five recipients to recieve the award, and demonstrated how discarded materials can be beautifully reincorporated into our built environment.
